My husband spent last week in the classroom. He started training to be a railroad conductor. Today he left for his first ride in the cabin of a running loco. He happened to be going past the house on his way out, so the kids and I went and sat at the crossing and waited for him.

I have been searching through my photo files for a couple photos I had never processed but distinctly remember taking. I found those photos, but I also have found plenty of other treasures along the way. I will be getting those out and sharing them here soon.

These are the photos I was seeking. I'm fond of the eerie green of the color versions.

there is this barn; and this bit of fence. I've taken other shots of this barn, but there are none that I like better than this one with the fence post in focus and the barn not.

However, that said I'm awfully fond of it's winter friend, and I might now have to make a shot in the spring and in the summer, too.

The Muppets take St. Louis

... Ok so they aren't Muppets. Scott at the Cupcakery. The food was yummy, and so was the window light.

Jamie hammed it up in Old St. Louis at Laclede's Landing. Despite not wanting to put on his nice looking shirt earlier in the day, he perked up, and hung off light poles and flashed his dimples at the other photographers.
Ian struck a pose or two, too.

Super Monkey!

After some time we headed down to the warehouse district, just a few blocks from where we were, but a completely different backdrop. Scott encouraged Ian to try and get in touch with his inner gangsta.

Spent the weekend in St. Louis. On Saturday morning we went to the Farmer's Market. It is quite a feast for the eyes. If we had not been traveling we might have purchased quite a bit of produce.

Our family met one of my college friends, who was traveling near by at Mickey D's for lunch a week ago. We let the kids run around the playland and we chatted. I snapped a few shots of her boys while we were having lunch. I love the face one of the boys gave me when he "caught" me!

The other day the white butterflies who like the pasture wild flowers where doing some elaborate group flying maneuvers, until I appeared with my camera. I have a few pictures of the white butterflies, but this was the only yellow butterfly hanging around. I wonder if he was lost, or if he just liked feeling unique.

Tired Kitty

This is one of my first pictures with the new camera. Our farm kitty had five kittens about a month ago, and Last week she brought them all up to the house. Lucky me! A new camera and brand new victims... er, subjects to shoot all in a 24 hour time frame!!

This kitten in particular like to hiss and spit and act quite tough, He bit me repeatedly the day we met.

Here he is tired. Sleepy and sick the crazy lady with the new camera.

A Brand New Shiny Blog for a Brand New Shiny Camera

Fir the past seven years I have been using either an 30 year old Pentax Spotmatic F or a 3 meg Sony Cybershot to capture memories and other images that tickle my fancy. I don't shoot with the Pentax often as film can be expensive. Most of the time I use that trusty little cybershot

Last week that faithful little camera died, I suspect the lens drive motor died or the gears in it broke. I plan to investigate as soon as I have time to do an autopsy.

I can't complain, five years is a good life for a digital camera. I have plenty of pictures I would not have had, and I saved a ton on film developing. I learned to compensate for the camera's limitations, and I learned to utilize PhotoShop. All in all it was a successful jump into the digital world.

My wonderful husband of 11 years, replaced the afore mentioned dead cybershot, with the Nikon D40!!! So here I sit, shiny new blog, for a shiny new camera. I have plenty to learn, and I figured I'd start here.
